• SANCTUARY

At The Berkshire Animal Connection Centre, the animals that live here are here for a reason. This reason may be that they have been rescued from a troubling situation and they need to live out the rest of their days in peace in an environment conducive to their rehabilitation and needs.

Or this may also be because an animal needs rehabilitating behaviourally and/or physically and they need an environment and set-up that allows them to do this.

Animals in our care then help us to enrich people's lives through interaction and education.

  • EDUCATION

We believe that the way to impact the welfare of animals on a larger scale, is to educate the general public and owners. We work to educate people on how we choose to keep our animals here at the sanctuary.

We recognise that animals in domesticity and captivity still have the same fundamental requirements as if they were living in the wild. Therefore, it is our responsibility to do our best to ensure that their environment allows them to fulfill as much of their natural ethogram as possible, whilst keeping on top of all of the necessary day-to-day management and husbandry.

  • INTERACTION

We know just how much animals can enrich people's lives and equally, how much we can enrich animal's lives. Through interaction sessions here at the sanctuary, people can get up close and personal with the animals, whilst remaining safe at all times.

These sessions are currently closed due to Covid-19 Lockdown Restrictions, however are open to anyone who would like to take part. Whether you are feeling stressed from daily life and would like to meet some friendly animals that would love to give you that '5 minutes of freedom' or you simply are an avid animal lover and would love to meet them up close and learn about their care, get in touch with us.

What do we do?

The Berkshire Animal Connection Centre is based in the Berkshire Countryside and was started to provide sanctuary for animals who have been rescued from dire circumstances and who cannot be rehomed whether it be due medical/health issues, ongoing rehabilitation, behavioural problems or simply because they do not fit into a specific role in society.

Now, the centre provides sanctuary for animals that are with us for all sorts of reasons.
This may be, as above, they have been rescued and need rehabilitation or it may be that they are struggling to live in 'traditional domesticity' (think stabled horses). Whilst most traditional environment work for most animals, there are always some that don't quite 'fit in'.

To the sanctuary, no animal’s life is worthless and every animal can enrich people’s lives, in our case through interaction sessions, training and simply being with these amazing animals.
The sanctuary is now a registered charity (1191736) which means there are more ways in which you can support us.

What happens when things don't go to plan?

It's all good us sharing all the positivity and showing off how happy the horses are and how well they do when everything goes to plan and works well. However, how do we manage things when life doesn't go to plan and things don't go as we had hoped or issues no one knew about […]
